Restylane is a dermal filler which is manufactured of a hyaluronic acid (NASHA) which is not animal stabilized and is completely biodegradable; Restylane is also approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.Restylane is, currently, being sold and marketed in more than 65 countries besides the United States. The drug has also been used in over ten million procedures with the United States only.
The substance that Restylane is made out of, hyaluronic acid, is completely natural and is found in all living things. This chemical is effective as a dermal filler since it gives an appearance of fullness to skin and tightens it. Hence, Restylane is primarily made for the treatment of mild and severe wrinkles, smoothing marionette lines and even in lip filler injections. It also not advised that Restylane is injected anywhere other than the dermis or submucosal implantation in the case of lips since safety after implantation in other areas has not been established. One of Restylane’s most prominent product is Restylane Vital for cheek filling and dealing dark circles.
Restylane is manufactured as a gel made of hyaluronic acid, and is produced through fermentation in a clinical laboratory setup by the Streptococcus bacteria. The laboratory setup eliminate the risk of transmission of diseases between species and also curbs the elicitation of allergic reactions in patients who have pre-existing allergies from beef, eggs and chicken etc. This also means that there is no need for allergy or skin tests prior to the injection of Restylane.
As stated, Restylane is a dermal filler which is made for mid to deep dermal implantation to correct facial wrinkles and other anomalies such as marionette lines and nasolabial folds. In patients over the age of 21, Restylane, which is a clear gel, can also be used to plump the lips through a submucosal implantation. Upon injection, Restylane maintains volume in the skin by immersing in the dermal tissue and attracting and subsequently binding water molecules to itself. One of the reasons that make Restylane so popular is that it displays results immediately after being injected, and can display results for up to six months. Depending upon the site of injection and other factors, some patients may exhibit results for even longer periods.
As with other similar drugs, doctors advise that Restylane not be administered to patients with severe allergies including those allergic to gram positive bacterial proteins and patients who are known to have bleeding disorders.
Restylane, should be administered with caution; sites which are infected or have pimples, rashes, cysts and hives should not be injected with the drug. Restylane injection can carry a risk of infection, in case of contraction of an infection standard procedures should be followed; special care should be taken when implanting Restylane in patients who are undergoing immunosuppressive therapy. Also, in under no condition should Restylane be injected into blood vessels or mixed with other drugs or other products.
As with other drugs, Restylane comes with risks and side effects but these are minimal and carry very lowchance of presenting which make this a drug of choice for doctors and patients. Please see the video which is embeded below to learn more about Restylane vital treatment:
