05 CHURCH OF ST NICHOLAS (TUTIC’S CHURCH). Prizren

Site description Late Byzantine style. Small sized chapel, one aisle and dome. Remains of original wall paintings. Built and decorated in the XIV c. Last restored in the 1960s. Listed cultural historic monument.

  • Lead roof removed, stone work partly damaged by hammering, perimeter fence partially lost.
  • Windows destroyed.
  • Interior badly damaged by fire and vandalized, marble pavement and wall paintings affected by fire.
2005-PROTECTIVE INTERVENTIONS st.sava
  • Clearance of the yard.
  • Re-roofing with new lead.
  • Repair or substitution of damaged stones and bricks.
  • New door and windows with glazing.
  • Replacement of broken floor stone slabs.
  • New iron fence.
  • Temporary hoardings to the site.
